Medical Staffing Solutions, an established federal government contractor headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking Full-Time and Part-Time Speech and Language Pathologists for a brand new state of the art multi-disciplinary therapy practice located in Chesapeake, Virginia. The pediatric speech and language therapist strive to promote optimal communication through receptive and expressive language functions. The therapist is responsible for assessment of programs for oral motor function for feeding and speech skills, articulation skills, auditory processing, dysfluency and stuttering, receptive/expressive language skills including possible apraxia and dysarthria, total communication for the hearing impaired, voice abnormalities as with cleft palate and vocal fold function, and augmentative communication devices. The therapist takes into account the child’s unique physical and cognitive abilities and follows through with an individualized communication program.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Review the physician’s written prescription, diagnosis, and past medical history
Evaluate the child by patient or parent interview, observation, and diagnosis and prognostic testing.
Establish short and long term goals based on evaluation results
Formulate written report consisting of history and background information, tests administered and results, conclusions and recommendations, and treatment plan.
Issue a copy and review the report with the child’s parent/guardian
Re-evaluate as indicated
Produce written reports including “Progress Report”, “Re-evaluation”, “Update”, as appropriate.
Administer, score and interpret standardized tests.
Engage parents in the child’s therapy program. Issue a written home program for carryover at home and update as the child progresses. Encourage the parent to demonstrate new aspects of the home program during the therapy session.

To treat children enrolled in Early Intervention, the therapist must complete certification with the Virginia Early Intervention Program.
